The Lagos State Governor (Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola)
Legal Practitioner, Administrator and Management Consultant, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, was born in Lagos at the Island Maternity Hospital on June 28th, 1963.
He was educated at Sunny Fields Primary School, Adelabu, Surulere, in Lagos, Birch Freeman High School, Surulere, Lagos and at Igbobi College, Yaba, also in Lagos.
He studied law at the University of Benin from where he graduated with a Bachelor of Laws, LL.B. (Hons), degree in 1987.
He was admitted to the Nigerian Bar as a Solicitor and Advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in November 1988 after completing the professional training programme of the Nigerian Law School, Lagos, which he undertook between 1987 and 1988.
He subsequently enrolled to perform the mandatory One year National service under the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme in Benin, in the then Bendel State, from 1988 to 1989.
During that period he carried out his primary assignment as counsel in the law firm of Late Dr. G.I.S Omonuwa & Company.
Commissioner for Environment (Hon. (Dr.) Muiz Adeyemi Banire)
Hon. (Dr.) Muiz Adeyemi Banire is a seasoned Law Teacher/Legal Practitioner, A great Author/Philosopher, a Genuine and Patriotic Politician and a Tested Manager of human and material resources. He belongs to the noble class of African professionals who believes that the Continent of Africa can attain economic emancipation through prudent management of resources and good governance.
As Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation in the administration of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Hon. (Dr) Banire championed epochal initiatives in the Ministry's operations and administration, and has shown commendable drive, imagination and a positive attitude that has seen him deploy his immense skill not only towards the goals of his present Ministry (Ministry of the Environment) but also to the goals of making Lagos State a safer and healthier place for all Lagosians to live.
He bagged an L.L.B from University of Lagos, Akoka, Lagos, where he obtained a degree in Law, in 1988. Dr. Banire was called to the Bar of the Federal Supreme Court of Nigeria in 1989 after he obtained his B.L (Barrister-At-Law) from The Nigeria Law School, Victoria - Island, Lagos.
In 1991, he bagged a Master of Laws (L.LM) degree from University of Lagos and added a Ph.D (Property Law) to his academic cap from the same University in Year 2005.
Dr. Banire's working experience started as a Moderator at Chartered Institute of Insurers, Assessor /Examiner at Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (1CAN); Chambers Attachment at Gani Fawehinmi Chambers, 1989; He was the Principal Partner at Akinbiyi, Banire & Co. Lagos (1991-1995) and from there he veered into the academic environment to serve as Senior Lecturer, Department of Private and Property Law, Faculty of Law, University of Lagos.
Dr. Banire is the Founder and Principal Associate, M.A. Banire & Associates, 27, Yinusa Adeniji Street, Ikeja, Lagos.
He has built a Legal career in a wide- ranging areas of specialization; in Land Law; Equity and Trust; Secured Credit Transactions; Planning and Compulsory Acquisition and this is evidenced by diverse publications in Learned Journals and published books as well as in teaching experience in the Department of Private and Property Law, University of Lagos since 1991. As an Author of International repute, he has written Text and Practice Books to his Credit.
Dr. Muiz Adeyemi Banire is happily married and blessed with beautiful children.
